Win a New and Improved Hummingbird Hammock ::Winner Announced::

A lot of amazing things have happened with Hummingbird Hammocks in the few short months since I first wrote about their amazingly compact and light weight hammock. They’ve built up their inventory and have been busy fulfilling their Kickstarter orders and shipping all the hammocks that you all bought. They have a brand new website: http://www.hummingbirdhammocks.com/ and you can now follow them on Twitter @HHammocks and Facebook.

Hummingbird Hammock

New and Improved

Hummingbird Hammocks have been working extremely hard to improve their hammock. They’ve managed to make it even lighter without sacrificing its strength or functionality. The original hammock I tested weighed a mere 7 oz and I was extremely happy with that. Amazingly though they’ve managed to further reduce the weight and bring it down to an insanely light 5.2 oz. The technology that keeps skydivers safe in the air is keeping Hummingbird Hammock users safe below. That’s so cool!

They’ve turned the attached stuff sack toward the inside of the hammock to function double duty as a water bottle/phone holder. In addition to the grass green color that I have, they will be introducing a forest green color based on feedback one of you let on my original blog post. And the entire hammock including the material is now 100% made in the USA (assembled in Colorado). There are also plans for a double hammock in stone grey/forest green and a single “plus” hammock in skydiver blue.

New Tree Slings

tree_slings

The only thing that I felt was missing from the Hummingbird hammock was tree straps. The cord I used, while strong, was just too rough on the tree. Now there will be an option to purchase custom designed set of tree straps (in a whoopie sling style) that combined weigh only 2.1 oz.

Exclusive: Reader Giveaway

Much of early success of Hummingbird Hammocks can be directly attributed to all of you for making a purchase or by being an early backer of their original Kickstarter campaign. As a sign of their appreciation, Hummingbird Hammocks would like to give a lucky reader one of their all new 5.2 oz hammocks. Use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter. A winner will be selected at random on July 14th. Easy.

If you can’t wait for the giveaway and want to make a purchase, readers of Brian’s Backpacking Blog can get a 10% discount at the Hummingbird Hammock online store using the code “BRIANGREEN” at checkout.
